Creative Consultation in green spaces using spontaneous interventions.
Once were commissioned by Bristol City Council Parks Department to consult with young people on their thoughts and feelings about parks and green spaces in their local areas.
Using a custom made bench Once made spontaneous interventions in open spaces by assembling the bench and creating dialogues. Stories, thoughts and opinions were gathered, and then fly posted onto the bench. As the project moved around the city spaces, the bench became a talking point, a fabric of natural, unframed exchange between the young people themselves and the parks department.
The project gathered the information needed by the client for their wider public consultation, as well as creating an artefact that worked in its own right as a celebration of young people's experience and perspective, aiding connections and understanding between young people from diverse parts of the city.
